Family Projects

This is such a great project for our families to participate in! Each age group, Lambs (2), Bunnies (3), Giraffes (4), Owls (Pre-K) and the Kindergarten get the opportunity for their families to participate with a special holiday theme. The Owl families begin the family project. Each child in that class brings home a turkey traced out of tag board to cut out and decorate for the Thanksgiving Holidays. The 4-year-olds classes decorate Christmas trees, 3's decorate Valentine hearts and 2-year-olds decorate Easter Eggs.  Our Kindergarten children write a story about their snowmen to hang in January. These will be hung outside on the Education Building walls for the Congregation and Preschool/Kindergarten families to enjoy.

Swap Meet

This is held in September and is a new fundraiser for the school.  Space is sold to individual families to sell their personal items.  Tables were also available for rent.  Some items were sold for the school's profit that had been donated by families who did not want to sell it for themselves.  We also sell breakfast foods, coffee and water.  There are many raffle items for sale throughout the day.  It is a very popular fundraiser.

Teddy Bear Picnics

This includes all of the 3, 4, and 5 year old classes.  The children invite their parents and younger siblings to join them for a picnic in class.  This is followed by song and a story.  There is lots of opportunity for fellowship and fun.

"Special Me" Days

This is a special time for just the 2-year-olds.  Parents are invited to come at the end of September to join the children at playground time and then back inside the classroom for closing circle that includes a story, and singing the good bye song together.  Parents get a sticker at the end of the day too!

Fall Fiesta

Fall Fiesta occurs in October or November from 9:30-11:00. All children from the Preschool, Kindergarten and Sunday School are invited to attend as well as younger siblings. We ask each family to bring a non-perishable food. This food is used by the TVLC Food Basket Ministry for the Thanksgiving food baskets TVLC distributes to 85 or more families in the community.  This is a great way to teach the children about sharing and caring for others.  We have the courtyard set up for a morning of fun and fellowship. Snacks are served. In addition to the many games and crafts, we have a fun Story Hour too.

Casserole Sale

The casserole sale has been a wonderful fundraiser for many years. The money is traditionally used for scholarships for the preschool.  It is held in December between Church services. We ask preschool families to help by bringing a casserole. The pans are provided by the preschool/kindergarten. And the rolls that are included are purchased from a local bakery.

Christmas Chapels

This is a beautiful part of the Preschool/Kindergarten celebration of Jesus' birth. We welcome in the holidays with special songs, costumes, and stories about the birth of Jesus. Each class has their time to share with parents, grandparents, friends and neighbors! It is a wonderful way to start the season!!

Muffins with Mom

In honor of our very special Mothers, all the classes have special songs, drawing, stories and muffins to share with their moms. This occurs in February.  The children have many surprises that are very hard to keep to them selves! There are many happy, excited faces as Mommies, Grandmas and Nanas join us for this wonderful time together.

Celebration of Children Sunday

The Preschool/Kindergarten staff along with the Sunday School staff assists at the 9:00 service on this special Sunday. This has been a tradition for the last 14 years.  All the children from Tanque Verde Lutheran Church at included in the service.  The older children from the Sunday School are the readers or they acolyte and some even usher.  The other children sing at the Call to Worship and then join their parents for the rest of the service. After the service we have a real celebration with a jumping castle, crafts, a light lunch, cake and balloons! The children make projects to share with the congregation about their love of God.  In 2012, we will celebrate our 33rd year as a ministry.

All School Carnival!

In March, school will be closed as we can share one special day together! There is lots of planning that goes into having our Carnival and we are excited to have everyone having fun together as we play games, make crafts, get our faces painted and so much more.  We also collect food donations for the Easter baskets that are delivered by the church. There is popcorn, snow cones to add to the fun!!

Dads' Brunch/Dessert Days

Mark your calendars Dads as we have a special day for you! The Bunny, Giraffe, Owl and Kindergarten dads will come for either brunch or snack served by the Preschool/Kindergarten. The children are all excited to share this day with their daddies! It is a time to honor our special dads with food, songs and stories!

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School is held in June for one week, from 8:30 to 11:30 AM. We welcome all children age 2-5th Grade!  This is always a great week learning about God and Jesus for all the children at Tanque Verde Lutheran Church. All the Preschool / Kindergarten children along with the Sunday School Children are invited to join in the fun!

Sunday School

Is another ministry of the Tanque Verde Lutheran Church.  They meet every Sunday from 9:00-10:00 for an hour of Bible stories, singing, praying, reading and making crafts.  We have special "Service Sundays".  Where we all stay together in the Chapel to make and do for others.  We have packaged "Bean Soup" for the Thanksgiving baskets and colored Easter Eggs for the Easter baskets too!  We make cards for the homebound which are delivered when the church goes to their home for communion. The last Sunday of the month, we gather together in the Chapel and process to the church to sing the "Call to Worship."  These are lively songs that our music director at school has taught us.  After singing, the children join their parents for the remainder of the service.  Sunday School is for everyone from the age of 2 to 5th grade!

Family Fun Nights

These are sponsored by the Children's Ministries of the church.  Each one is different and everyone is invited!  We have presented movie night with popcorn, game night with ice cream sundaes and an all-church picnic.  We are always looking for new ideas to bring families together from all the Children's Ministries.
